A few words about myself
Hello, my name is Jo and I am an Integrative Counsellor, which basically means I draw on a variety of theoretical models to best suit you. However, I am not one to bamboozle the sessions with theory! I approach things in a very calm and down to earth way, without judgment, providing a safe space where I can support you in exploring your thoughts and feelings in greater depth, helping you to look at behavioural patterns you have adopted over time which perhaps no longer serve you. I can help you explore the past, the future and the here and now - it can be a journey of self-awareness and discovery.
I have been a Counsellor for over 10 years and bring a broad range of experience to my counselling practice. I have worked with primary school children through play therapy; vulnerable adults with a variety of mental health conditions such as bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia; and supported carers and those suffering from addiction within an addiction agency - designing my approach to best suit each person.
I have worked with clients experiencing a variety of issues, including:
- Attachment Disorders
- Bi-polar Disorder
- Carer support
- Feeling Sad
- Health Anxiety
- Hearing Voices
- Learning Difficulties
- LGBTQ+ issues
- Low Self Confidence
- Low Self Esteem
- Mental Health
- OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
- Passive-Aggressive Behaviour
- Physical Health Matters
- Pregnancy and Birth
- Relationship Challenges
- Self Harm
- Suicidal Thoughts
- Work Related Stress
I offer an initial FREE 20-minute consultation over the phone or online which can provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and to get a feel for whether I am the ‘right’ person for you. Forming a trusting and confidential working relationship with me, I believe, is the foundation for good therapy.
And finally... Every client I work with, I treat as an individual with warmth and an open mind, appreciating that we all come with a unique and important story.
Contact: Please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.
